Welcome to my blog!

I am looking forward to sharing some of my experiences with you in this class. First I am a yoga enthusiast. I do not get to practice as much as I would like. My 2 sons, ages 7 and 13, keep me occupied as well as school. I am studying Health & Wellness to supplement my yoga certification courses. I felt it was important to not just understand the principles of yoga but to understand health & wellness as a whole. I have already learned so much about other aspects of maintaining a well balanced lifestyle since enrolling at Kaplan.
I have used yoga to heal my mind, body and soul. I will not try to convince you that yoga is the best choice for you but I will try to open your eyes and mind to my method of healing and maintaining wellness and a balanced life. It is not the easiest thing in the world but I have learned if it comes easy it's not worth much.
I love music and I listen to it often to reflect and look ahead. It makes me happy and sometimes motivates me to begin my stretches and poses.
Again, I welcome you to my blog and hope you can learn from me as much as I hope to learn from you.

Blessings & namaste

  1. Hi Jen,
I look forward to getting to know you through your blog and in class. I have tried yoga, and do enjoy it in the privacy of my own home...mostly because I feel that I am not very good at it. My husband LOVES hot yogaand takes a few classes at our gym. I tried hot yoga once, and left after 10 minutes....couldn't stand the heat or feeling "dumb".
I do enjoy exercise and I swim, bike and run, and do strength training, mostly.
I really feel that the whole body needs to be involved in staying healthy, too.
Good luck and see you on the DBs, seminar and in your blog :)

  2. Hi Jen,
I'm so happy Yoga is such a part of your life (even if not as much as you want it to be). I've tried yoga before, and I really had a hard time going with the flow, which tells me I have a big problem relaxing. However, I've grown lots since that incident, and I've learned to count it as a blessing. It's not quite as big in my life, but it's my go-to for regaining some of my lost flexibility. As I age, I notice more muscle tightness ans yoga is a great tool to have a use. My goal is to make it a nightly routine, since I have a hard time falling asleep.
    Good luck!

  3. It was nice to more about you, please if you have a minute please tell me if there is any kind of Yoga dvd you would recommend. I feel really stupid going into those classes but need to reduse my stress somehow.

    1. A friend of mine has a yoga podcast on itunes. It's free and he has different classes for different focuses. It's called Yogamazing. There are a lot of yoga dvd's out there. If you want to go that route I like anything Shiva Rea or Rodney Yi does, hoever the podcast is FREE! Good luck and Namaste!

  5. Hi Jen,
I am really excited to have a yoga enthusiast in class! I love yoga. I don't practice it often enough my type of exercise tends to be the faster pace higher intensity stuff just so I don't get bored, but really do enjoy yoga. I always feel refreshed after a class, and with my stress level lately it would probably be a good idea for me to go to a class ASAP! I like how you say if its easy its normally not worth having because nothing is easy for me lately so hopefully something GREAT is in store :)
